What would you say?

Would you criticize 

my life

But never fade

into the night? 

If I died today 

Would you be afraid? 

Of the things that didn't 

come?

Of the person we didn't 

become?

“Not by much”

You would say,

As you touch 

our hearts 

“Nothing 

that trumps

what we are”

If I died today 

I wouldn't die

young

But seemingly 

unsung,

As the weight 

of the years -

once unbearable,
